WARCRAFT - Parasite by Yula568 WARCRAFT - Parasite by Yula568
This piece was inspired by :iconghostwalker2061:
We had a similary theory, which is double-crossed by Blizzard itself, so I broke up with Warcraft T.T

When I became the fan of Neltharion/Deathwing I always imagined, that he is infected by the Old Gods. With a parasite, which controlls him and whispers in his brain.
This happened years ago and I began to write a fanfic, back then... which was only fantasy and I had no lead, just scenes in my brain. So the main storyline was not complete... so I dropped it.
The main heroine was Rhonin's daughter, one of his half-elf twins, who I called "Alladra". Her role was to befriend Neltharion and later cure him.

This is the scene, where Alladra tears out the parasite "Deathwing" from Neltharion.

And please... no-tentacle-jokes! >.< This is not some kind of hentai manga here XD

Aw.  So, she yanks Deathwing from Nel's head.  Well, Nel is just gonna snuggle her for doing so.  She'd be the first the he'd hug.

This was actually what I was hoping the raid would be, we'd go inside Nel's body and fight the parasite corruption that housed Deathwing.  But yeah, we were double crossed.  Weren't we?  Fucking Blizzard.

Which why Romancing the Coffer came into being.  Wrote it before the raid even started but knew Blizzard was gonna kill him off anyways because of well, lazy writing.  And though the idea isn't that Deathwing is a parasite, though that's the simplistic way for Neltharion to explain Deathwing, the complicated version is Deathwing is Neltharion's split personality.  So, he is Neltharion, but he's all the bad things, negative emotions, and all that that manifested inside of Neltharion due to all the trauma caused by the Old Gods.  And in some times he became Neltharion's imaginary friend, or the personality he could switch over to when he couldn't handle certain stress levels.  Deathwing kinda became Nel's safety net.  And it's sad.  Because I had it in my mind that Nel was just born broken.  Which makes me wanna snuggle him more.

He's such a woobie.

But yeah, it's evil and Nel was more than happy to be gotten rid of it.  Bad Deathwing.

I know he deserved better.  I didn't want him to die for the same reason I didn't want Illidan to die; neither of them were truly evil to begin with.  Also, I have misgivings about them killing off Neltharion.  He's the Earth Warder, the Aspect of the Earth, which makes him (in a very real sense) the Heart of Azeroth.  I get this feeling that with him dead, Azeroth is living on borrowed time.

No, never give up on the idea.  You think I'm giving up on the stories I've written?  I've got story Four in the works. Neltharion goes to Pandaria, after witnessing his home in Theramore getting destroyed.  I get to turn Nel into Superman and Garrosh into Lex Luthor and I ignore the hell out of that stupid ending.

I continue the story. The only problem, I'm the only one on the Net that seems to have allowed Neltharion not only be redeemed, but survive.  I'd love to see other people take Nel's redemption story, make it their own, and come up with their own conclusions on how to redeem him and find ways of allowing him to survive and prove to the world he's not evil.

This is character exploration.  That's why I want to continue on with Nel's story, I get to find new things to have him do, and I get to figure out what his life would be like after being cured of evil, how people would treat him or react to him and how he would react to them.  I'd say this is a character exploration of the entire planet of Azeroth.

Most of the villains we see in Azeroth don't get redeemed, they just died.  Here's a chance to figure out if one was redeemed after causing pretty much the near destruction of the planet, how does he continue on, who does he interact with.

I even posted a journal challenging people to the idea of what they would do with Neltharion.  And the guidelines was, they have to find a way to redeem him and he has to be alive, and not dead.  There shall be no Trope in any of those stories saying: "Redemption equals death".  He has to live.

And so, I welcome the idea of you finding your own way of how you would handle Neltharion's redemption. I'd like to see how Alladra would treat him, or even their developing friendship.  You do have to realize though that he will come off with some psychological problems.  I mean, you don't come out of being possessed by a parasite for so long and not be in the least bit screwed up in the head.  So, Alladra could be a confidant to him, be his moral support.

And I love to see that.  So, do it.  Write the idea.  Even if it's come up with a short story, write something.  Don't pay attention to the stupid Dragon Soul Raid, I don't.  That's why I'm continuing my stories.

This is what I wrote on the first page of Romancing the Coffer: "This story is only just a wishful idea. I know this will NEVER happen. I know they're gonna kill him [Neltharion] off. And I know you WoW players will be getting "TEH EPIC LEWTZ!" It seems Blizzard just really hates its dragons. But just for this one story, what they plan to do will NOT happen."

Well... I have only a short scene, when Alla enter Neltharion's lair ^^;
I never had the fortune, to play WoW in real servers, so I was never on Northrend and never saw the Cataclysm T.T... so I don't know the raid's story too well. Only the very important things.

My most promising main storyline began with the insanity of Maligos, who (as I read) became the enemy of the Kirin Tor, and Dalaran. He want to destroy mortal magic-users, and when he confronts Rhonin, he take his son, the twin of Alladra, as a hostage. Alladra want to rescue her brother, and get aid from Alextrasza. She tell Alla, that "Deathwing" has a relic, which can give Alladra the strength, to save her brother from the realm of Maligos.
She try to bargain with Nel, and the dragon suggest a trial. If Alladra passes, she can take the relic. But Neltharion never wanted to give her the relic, and when Alla get through his test, he is very upset and try to stop her. Alladra is a clever girl, and she get the relic (a black crystal), but it active itself, and bind Alladra and Neltharion together, with an invisible chain. Neltharion can't kill Alladra, and the relic protect her from any "other deadly dangers". She could even command him, but Alladra is not a strong magic-user, so she can't do it.
Neltharion can't get rid of her. He try to kill her with various methods, but everything fails. Not always because of the relic, but because of Alladra's good heart and nature. As everything fails, he just keep her around himself. He tell his followers, that Alladra is his servant. This way Alladra can observe very closely his behavior. That's what will help her understand her "captor" and earn that little trust, which Neltharion still possess in the depth of his heart.

Well... that's the idea, but I found it childish a bit and... well... it isn't fits to the official story -.- Only one scene exist still in the depths of my "writings folder" ^^;

I'm not a fan of Warcraft, but I think this piece is beautiful.
